A popular strategy is to select larger-diameter wheels with a more striking visual finish (such as polished or clear-coated details) for the summer season, as summer weather and road conditions are much more favorable. For the winter season, it is wiser to choose standard or smaller-sized wheels with a simpler, solid-color finish without polished details, as those are less protected against the winter elements. Additionally, a smaller wheel size means a smaller winter tire size, which will undeniably be a more cost-effective purchase. Naturally, when selecting wheels, you must strictly follow the car manufacturer's specifications regarding the exact wheel dimensions suitable for your specific vehicle.

Today, most new cars roll out of the dealership on alloy wheels - it's no longer an exclusive luxury. If anything, steel wheels have become a rarity.
